Om Prakash Choudhary, IAS, (born 02 June, ) is an Indian Administrative Service officer who is currently serving as the District Collector of Raipur District in Chhattisgarh, India.
He has previously served as the District collector of Janjgir-Champa district in Chhattisgarh, India.
Early Life and Education
Choudhary was born and brought up in a small village called Bayang in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. His grandfather had been a farmer for over 50 years. His father was a school teacher.
Choudhary lost his father when he was just 8 years old. His mother is a homemaker.
He completed his entire school education till class 12 from various village government schools and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Kalyan college, Bhilai. Choudhary was one of the youngest to clear the IAS examinations in He has been serving in his home cadre Chhattisgarh ever since.

Nalanda Parisar is a sprawling six-acre campus for the youth. Equipped with a library having a repository of over one crore books, high-speed internet connections, public-access computers, an e-library, a cafeteria, ATM services, stationery and study material shops, the campus will be functional and accessible 24x7.
A large chunk of books in the library were collected through a city-wide book donation drive called ‘Pustak Daan’. Over and above all these facilities, Nalanda Parisar is an eco-zone with a growing green cover, man-made lakes and open-air reading zones. The concept of community learning in the lap of nature is an ancient practice in the Indian educational system — over 2, years old — and Nalanda Parisar tries to recreate the same environment.

CHHATTISGARH will be the first state in the country to digitise its RTE (Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act) admission process from ensuing academic calendar.

Fighting Naxalism with Education
O.P. Choudhary placed the education of Dantewada's tribal children at the heart of an innovative programme.
Under this programme, students are trained for medical and engineering entrance exams — over a hundred of them are transported from remote tribal villages and given free boarding and coaching.[4]
He also launched the project ‘Education City’ in which one campus, spread in more than acres of area, with all state-of-the-art facilities could accommodate students.
Global audit major KPMG had selected the Dantewada Education City as one of the most innovative urban infrastructure projects in the world.[5]
He started seater residential schools (more than 44 in number) for children who were initially deprived of education also known as Out-of-School Children. These are known as ‘Pota Cabins’.
The percentage of Out-of-School Children saw a drastic decrease from % in to almost 13% in [6]

Those who could not attend college due to any reason and are now unemployed due to lack of qualification are provided with free of cost vocational education. Admission to these colleges doesn’t require any educational qualification and it’s a role model project for Skill India mission.
After its success locally, this project has later been replicated and launched in all 27 districts of Chhattisgarh by Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh.[8]
