Vijayawada&#; is so special in this name? it&#;s a great railway junction. It has a living river flowing by its side. It has given India its national flag. It was a place where great leaders who played a crucial role in the Indian independence struggle were has one of the shakti peetas.
It has one of the biggest bus-terminals in the world. It has the most comfortable weather , an all-time spring scenario. It is a center for education. It is the place where the leaders of the cinema industry were mentored. To put it in one sentence &#;It is the place where people think!&#;
On the other hand it is that place in India which is only next to Mumbai in terms of rowdy sheets.
It is the place rowdies have ruled for decades. It is the place where a girl who steps outside the house is so insecure. Apart from rowdy history which Ram Gopal Varma is portraying there is the other dark side. It has become a fashion to kill in the name of love. And all started here! In this little town!
The place where a heroine named pratyusha was gang raped and murdered, Sree Lakshmi was killed in an exam hall, a Gemini news reader was murdered and raped after that, Ayesha meera &#;s case, Nagasree&#;s case all these did not meet the nation&#;s attention like the ruchika&#;s case or the aarushi talwar&#;s case.
Why??
Because we have rowdies here to settle the cases! We don&#;t need any courts. We have been kept away from development by these rowdies. There are no heroes in them as shown in movies. Here both groups fight for evil. They fight for their cause or rather to put it straight they fight for their caste.
No leader has born in the slums in Vijayawada. I declare! I stay in one! the difference is just that my house hasn&#;t got so many holes in the asbestos sheet as my neighbors&#;. So its manageable in the rainy season. I have been in vijayawada for 17 long years of my life. No leader comes there! I only remember them coming to my house during elections.
Vijayawada has been the hub for the politics of the coastal region of Seemandhra for a while.
What I post in the subsequent posts and this one is from what I have seen and heard as I grew up. My father is one man whom I have always appreciated because he never behaved the way a normal father would have. He used to read me out chandamama stories sandwiched with Marxian literature and various kinds of topics while I was a kid.
He made me a news addict as he is! But that has helped! I blink if a good mathematical equation is being discussed but not when any Political issue or a general issue is being discussed upon. He is a failure in life as my mother mockingly says, but, no dad you are my hero still!
The politics of Vijayawada have been complicated for a long time.
It is one place where still the communists believe(??) that they have a strong hold upon . Yes the communists are responsible for the Bloodshed the division of CPI and CPM has resulted in the outbreak of the likes of Ranga and Nehru who are supposed to be the biggest rowdies of all time in Vijayawada. Students too have played their role.
Even now in certain colleges in Vijayawada people form their circles based on their castes. NTR, treated as great by many will not be forgiven by the people of Vijayawada(barring some fools).
If there is any city which has seen blood without Mafia, communal riots, bomb blasts&#;It is Vidyalawada maa Vijayawada.
It is known that Wrong-go-pal War-man (Ram Gopal Varma) has shown the dangerous Ravi and Suri as heros in rakta charitra. I don&#;t think it&#;ll be any different in the case of Vijayawada. So, friends, his engineering life in Vijayawada doesn&#;t suffice, to portray the real colors of the rowdies. He is a friend of the MP of Vijayawada who was then the student leader of his college.
It is so natural that varma will take sides. Let the truth be un-biased. I will be posting it in parts.

A city that was the second developed in the Madras state before Seemandhra got bifurcated from Madras State and merged with Telangana to form Andhra Pradesh. During the early days we produced politicians like Pucchalapalli Sundarayya who rode to the parliament on a bicycle daily. The first MP of Vijayawada was an Independent, the brother of Sarojini Naidu, Harindranath Chattopadyay, a Bengali!
But what has pushed the city I love most into the claws of rowdies?
The identity crisis! The congress was ruling, ruling and ruling the state. CPI and CPM got separated in as google says. But what has that led to?

The community of Devineni Nehru tries to hide this fact but it is true. They have started earning by doing settlements! Not just settlements they went for collections! Remember your childhood movies? They place a knife on the table and the shop-keeper pays the rowdy. That is how collections were made. The congress had one of its major vote-bank as Radha&#;s community who lead the population charts.

Ranga arranged community meetings and encouraged his people to support him. The rowdies Ranga and Nehru started encouraging the students to live for their castes and if needed die for them!

After Radha&#;s death, Ranga was the leader of the gang. He was known for his atrocious ways of &#;collections&#; from the public. The Devineni Brothers wanted their dominance, it is often said that Devineni brothers aided Radha&#;s murder as well.
But still no proof exists. So, initially they worked in unison to rob the common man. When they had differences amongst themselves they (Devinenis) split up with the Ranga-Gang and formed their own student organization &#;USO&#; (United students organization) to compete with Radha&#;s UI (United Independents) which was controlled together by Ranga + Nehru gang earlier.
The effect was Devineni Gandhi&#;s wicket. Devineni ChandraShekar(Gandhi),Nehru&#;s elder brother was hacked to death, Ranga being the prime suspect. Ranga grew into a state leader gradually. Both the Gangs kept loosing wickets, you know as it is said kings die rarely, the foot soldiers die daily.

Devineni Murali was very instrumental in the student politics for the Devineni brothers. With Nadendla Bhaskar Rao playing a spoil sport while NTR was away for a surgery, there were elections in and Ranga managed to be an MLA.
The fire of castism was alive for a long long time and exploded in the form of Devineni murali&#;s death (remember the chase of actor chinna in RGV&#;s 'Siva' movie? They say, Murali was chased down similarly! RGV mimicked it well!). Nehru-Gang couldn&#;t digest the death of Murali. They were looking for an opportunity to take a revenge.
It is said that Ranga literally hid himself for a few days after Murali&#;s murder.
Once, a girl from Kankipadu region came to Ranga for some help. Ranga knew that if he goes there without weapons it would be like entering a hungry lion&#;s den. If he goes with weapons he&#;d be arrested! Somehow he felt like starting without weapons and was stopped by the police for checking.
He took that as an insult and started a hunger strike at Ragaviah park, after all Mahatma Gandhi left this one thing to everyone in need. He said that the NTR government mistreated him and also accused that the government reduced security to him when his life was under threat. The opportunity was wide open!!!

So as the articles say busses full of rowdies came and attacked the spot where the hunger strike is going. Everything was well set for the murder. Read the articles again, you will understand! The early hours of Decemeber 26 saw the downfall of one of the Gangstars who gave nothing to the city but claims to be the tiger of bezawada.
NTR turned on a blind eye to all that was going on! The remains of ranga gang had to flee for a while. In bits and pieces the rowdies were gradually filtered off. Nehru remained the sole prince of Vijayawada, but in today&#;s world nothing can be so dangerous and eclipsed. Truth can only be painted but can&#;t be tainted.
The second grade rowdies under Ranga-Nehru became the big guns now!
That was the story of the bloody stains left over by those rowdy gangs on the city. They were CASTE wars. Two communities fought for dominance! The impression that &#;rowdy-ism is a synonym to Vijayawada&#; is the biggest misconception among the various spheres of people.
But still, it has its share of blood-shed that caused irreparable damage, a damage that would make certain communities of people natural enemies. The Big-Guns of both these communities have rather made the life difficult for a common man in some cases in their quest for supremacy. These communities should learn to understand the real picture of their leaders and the implications on the society it had earlier and the implications it still continues to have even today!
